Club Bio

SVR’s mission is to promote and encourage running, regardless of age, gender or physical condition. To accomplish its mission, SVR holds races and social runs, awards scholarships, sponsors speakers and coordinates with other agencies in the community advocating running and walking. Although the primary club base is in Winchester, Virginia, our club membership and activities cover the greater northern Shenandoah Valley Area. SVR sponsors about 30 races a year, helping to bring outstanding community running events to Frederick, Warren, Clarke, and Shenandoah and even a few in West Virginia. Most of our runners are road runners but we also have quite a few trail runners who enjoy running the incredible trails we have in the Shenandoah National Park, George Washington Forest, or along the Appalachian Trail. SVR is a proud member of the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA). We love to get out and move in the beauty of the Shenandoah Valley. Be sure to check out one of the largest races in the region, the Apple Blossom 10k and Kids’ Bloomin’ Mile, and don’t forget the annual Liberty 5k and the Loudoun Street Mile which has been a local favorite since 2003. We welcome runners and walkers of all abilities. Our website is a good place to start to find information about the club and our races, but for up-to-the-minute news, please check out our Facebook page. This is where we post any last minute changes to our event calendar, post about group runs, and generally hang out. So JOIN US!
