Club Bio

GMAA is Vermont’s Largest Running Club. Our Mission is to Promote Good Health, Fitness, and Friendship Through Running. GMAA members are about 400 strong and span all ages and abilities from youth through runners in their seventies, walkers to Olympic Trials qualifiers, all united in their enjoyment of the sport. GMAA means different things to each of its members, but it has always meant some of the same things to all of its members, including friendship, good health, competition, and good fun through running. GMAA sponsors a full slate of races from 5K through the marathon (Green Mountain Marathon), including the oldest continuously held race in Vermont (the Archie Post Five Miler), races specifically for women, and weekly track workouts. The club was one of the founders and is a continuing supporter of the Vermont City Marathon. In addition, GMAA and its members assist in the organization of many other races in Vermont, including a number of races to benefit charities. To support high school athletes, the GMAA offers small scholarships to help with the costs of attending college. Consider joining the Green Mountain Athletic Association. Your membership fee brings you weekly training tips and workout ideas from our running coach; information on race results; discounts at local retailers; discounted race entry fees; opportunities to improve your own running; an annual dinner/business meeting; and participation in an organization that benefits both the sport of running and the broader community.
