Club Bio

FOUNDED IN 1981... by Bill Wenmark and the students in his training program for first-time marathoners. Today club members not only compete in marathons, but also run every distance from 5Ks to ultras. Members also walk, bicycle, ski, swim, and participate in duathlons and triathlons... and they have a lot of fun, too! PROGRAMS ALARC is also active in promotion and sponsorship of fitness events. The club produces a fitness program called the Fitness & Friends Core/Speed along with a spring and fall ALARC Distance marathon training programs. ALARC Distance has two programs each year, one for Grandma's Marathon in Duluth, Minnesota and the other for the Twin Cities Marathon in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The program has trained over 3,000+ hopeful marathoners from the ages of 16-73. All paces are welcome! ALARC Membership is free and just requires joining our newsletter to stay up to date on training, events, and other special members-only events.
