The club runs the scenic roads and trails of Middletown and Atlantic Highlands in Monmouth County NJ. All paces and distances are welcome! Welcome from Club President Cindy Carroll: As we continue to navigate the many changes in the world today, we look to find better and unique ways to survive the chaos and confusion. As a runner, I have always found peace in my runs and the hope to just do MY best in any situation [race]—which spills over to my day-to-day actions. I joined this club to find camaraderie with like-minded people and support to become a better runner. We run, we chat, we support one another—we are teammates that enjoy having company while running! As runners, competing is a part of our DNA, but not necessarily with one another.... As with my predecessor, I will leave you with this quote from our very own local running guru, George Sheehan: "It's very hard in the beginning to understand that the whole idea is not to beat the other runners. Eventually you learn that the competition is against the little voice inside you that wants you to quit." At the New Jersey Road Runners Club our runners come in all shapes and sizes and with a variety of distance needs and paces. The runner training for a virtual half-marathon, one who's chasing down a PR to qualify for NY and Boston Marathons, the runner who wants to complete their first 5K, or the runner who just enjoys a nice, easy run. We have a number of courses to choose from, whether it is running the rolling hills of Cooper Road or the quiet tree lined path of the Henry Hudson Trail. We offer a place where all runners can come to enjoy a shared passion, camaraderie, a few laughs and maybe a cup of coffee and bagel after a hard workout or an easy run. We have something for everyone. Come join us!
