Club Bio

The Massapequa Road Runners Club (MRR) was founded in 1976 and has been in existence ever since. We are located on the south shore of Long Island in Nassau County bordering Amityville, Seaford, Plainedge, and Farmingdale. We have members from all over Nassau and Suffolk counties of various ages and abilities and we welcome all runners, joggers, and walkers. The MRR colors of red, white, and blue can be seen at many races throughout Long Island and our members are at the front, middle, and back of the pack, laughing, talking and simply enjoying themselves. We support each other enthusiastically and are a very social and friendly club. We are a great group to run with and can enhance your speed and ability to whatever your goals may be. We train for 5 and 10k’s, half and full marathons, sprint triathlons, and we have traveled domestically and internationally for half/full marathons. We sponsor two races annually, The Firecracker 5k run/walk and the Massapequa Mile and are active in the community and our local high school. Our club holds board meetings the first Tuesday of every month and member meetings quarterly. We also sponsor club events such as “Breakfast in the Park”, summer barbecue, holiday party, and many other events. We meet at the Brady Park parking lot in Massapequa Park on the weekends at 7:30 AM on Saturday and 8 AM on Sundays and run/walk in the beautiful Massapequa Preserve. So, come on down and introduce yourself. No matter what your ability you will be welcomed and perhaps after our run/walk you will join us for a bagel and coffee at a local shop. Come on down and meet some fellow running/walking enthusiasts. See you in the park!
