Club Bio
The Gettysburg Beer Runners combine running and responsible beer consumption in the interest of good health, relaxation, camaraderie, and community. Some of us will be experienced and accomplished runners. Some of us are new to the sport. Some of us are relatively young; some are a little older. Some of us are men and some of us are women. We've got a large and loyal group of walkers. Most of us really like beer, but not everyone. There are no membership requirements. Show up, get some exercise, hang out with a diverse and friendly group. Got a better way to spend a weekday night? You'll wonder why you didn't do this sooner. We'll usually travel a very manageable three to five miles, ending up at a local establishment featuring a quality beer selection and good food. We always enjoy our beer after the run - not before, not during. Our runs happen on Wednesday evenings, year-round, rain or shine. We often organize special runs on weekends and we also like to enter races together whenever possible. It doesn't matter how far or fast you go - we've got someone who is already going your speed. The Gettysburg Beer Runners raise a pint to David April of Philadelphia's legendary Fishtown Beer Runners and to Dr. Manuel J Castillo-Garzon, MD, Professor of Medical Physiology, School of Medicine, University of Granada, whose famous study said that beer and water have similar rehydration effects when comparing a moderate amount of beer to the same amount of water. To the Professor!
